YOUR BIGGEST SKINCARE MISTAKES

YOUR BIGGEST SKINCARE MISTAKES

If you've recently been on a skincare regimen, but you're still not seeing results, this is for you.

Newsflash

You may be making one of these common skincare mistakes, which might completely mess up your skincare routine. Despite what people think, getting moisturizers and eye cream isn't enough. We have listed the most common skincare mistakes you probably make, along with how to correct them for glowing skin.

Mistake 1: Leaving your makeup on at night

One of your biggest skincare mistakes is not cleansing before bedtime. Nighttime cleansing is crucial to the skin's restorative process. It is during this time that your skin can repair damaged cells and restore moisture.  Skin heals itself by producing its own natural sebum, which is rich in nutrients and fatty acids. Despite its benefits for the skin, this oil can cause severe breakouts when combined with makeup, grime, and dirt.

Mistake 2: Using only face wipes

Say out loud - Face wipes aren’t enough for cleaning your face! They will not only remove your makeup but also wash away essential oils from the skin's surface, leaving it clogged with dirt.  Face wipes are helpful as a quick fix, but not as a daily skincare routine.

Mistake 3: Not double cleansing

How does double cleansing work? Basically, all you need is to wash your face twice - first to remove makeup, then to clean it. While some people prefer to remove their makeup with face wipes before washing their face, this can be overly drying and irritate the skin, so make sure to cleanse your face correctly to prevent dry skin.

A gentle micellar water wipe or an oil cleanser should be enough to remove make-up and make your face look vibrant. You should follow up with a gentle water-based cleanser that contains hydrating ingredients, such as hyaluronic acid if your skin is dry. For oily skin, use a gentle foaming cleanser with salicylic acid to remove makeup and clean out your pores.

Mistake 4: Over exfoliating

We all exfoliate too much thanks to cleansing brushes, chemical toners, retinoids, and scrubs, which have become extraordinarily popular in recent years.  Inflammation, acne, irritation, and sensitivity can occur if you exfoliate too much, which can, in turn, lead to damage to the skin's moisture barrier.

Choose your favorite exfoliation method and do it no more than three times a week. If you have drier or more sensitive skin, a few times a week is enough to reap results without burning the skin.

Mistake 5: Not wearing sunscreen

Your biggest skincare mistake is not wearing sunscreen daily. Dermatologists, estheticians, doctors, and skincare experts all agree – and commonsense also says - that wearing sunblock daily is essential for skin health. In addition to its important role in protecting against skin cancer, it is one of the easiest and most reliable anti-aging products.
